You can read every episode without an account. If you create one, we store your name, your email address and the date you joined, so we can show your name next to your comments and, if you opt in, send you the weekly episode email.

Accounts can be created with Google sign-in. In that case Google confirms who you are and shares your name and email address with this site — it does not give the site access to anything else in your Google account.

When you sign up you can tick a box to receive an email each time a new episode is published. That is the only thing the list is used for: no third-party marketing, no selling or sharing of addresses. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing the address above.

Comments are visible to signed-in readers and are stored with your display name and the time you posted. Please don't put anything private in a comment. You can delete your own comments, and the site owner can remove comments that break the tone of the place.

The language toggle sends the text of the page to an automated translation service and stores the result so the next reader gets it instantly. Only published site content is sent — never your account details or your comments.

This site stores a small amount of data in your browser to keep you signed in and to remember your chosen language. There is no advertising network and no cross-site tracking on the site today. If that ever changes, this page will be updated first and you will be asked for consent where the law requires it.

Episodes may occasionally carry a clearly labelled sponsor. Sponsors pay to appear; they get no access to reader data, and clicking a sponsor link simply takes you to their own site, which has its own privacy policy.

Account and comment data is kept for as long as your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your profile, your email address and your comments.

If you are in the UK or EU you can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email the address above and we will deal with it within 30 days.
